Painting Muscles

 So, we're moving.
We bought a house in the neighboring town
and we need to be in by January 1st.
This means I've been doing a ton of painting.
It's exhausting,
but I think my shoulders&arms are gonna look great!

DirtyDancing Thin

Speaking of Jennifer Grey...

Dirty Dancing is/was always a form of thinspo for me.

Not only was Baby ittybitty, but Penny was tiny, too!

Actress, Cynthia Rhodes had bony arms&shoulders

that I want&wanted so badly!

Time to break that movie out and watch it again.

Vintage Thin

The boy and I watched White Christmas the other day

and I was immediately brought back to my youth

watching it every year with my mother

who still watches it to this day.

I was shocked to notice how tiny Vera-Ellen was in it

and proceeded to tell the boyfriend that

it's no wonder I have such wild body image

when I grew up watching actresses like her

and Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing.

I had to read Vera's bio, of course:

"Vera's career died down in the late 1950s once filmed musicals lost their fashion. It was later discovered that, due to the dancer's compulsive dieting obsession, she had silently battled anorexia throughout much of the 50s before anyone was even aware or doctors had even coined the term or devised treatments."

...so sad to suffer in silence,

but I can't help but wish I had the willpower

because her body looked absolutely flawless.

Angel Thin

The 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show aired this week

(obvs, you probably all knew that)

and, of course, I watched&loved it.

I'll admit that I didn't like it as much as years' past

but it was still thinspirational&beautiful.

Those models ...my goodness... have the tiniest&longest legs.

I can't even aspire to look like them

cause my body just isn't made that way.

My favorite Angel is Candice and I loved her fairy look.

And my favorite performer was Taylor Swift

who looked like she should have been one of the Angels herself.

A good watch to make me behave - but not the best show ever.

I think I enjoyed all the workout posts they did even more...

a lot of the Angels posted what they did to prepare

and VS put it on their blog so everyone can "Train Like an Angel."

Maybe I'll try some of the workouts.

Anna Thin

I wish I could describe myself as "very small."

I know she's referring to her height, too,

but in general - she has a tiny body.

I was reading a blog with thinspo movie suggestions

and a lot of people commented that Pitch Perfect is

...I never really noticed, but I can totally see it.

I find it kind of ironic that their are so many movements toward

- accepting your body as it is -

- celebrating your average body -

- embracing your curves -

yet celebrities just get smaller&smaller

and the stories we try to relate to in movies

are acted out by frail actresses that we shouldn't aspire to be.

I'll be watching Pitch Perfect 2 for sure

...and probably fasting that day.

MonoThin

I need mono.

One of my college girlfriends has been sick

...for like a month...

and finally found out that it's mono.

I felt bad

but mostly I felt jealous

of all the weight she'll lose.

Scrolling the internet before starting my workday

The first celebrity pictured is Tyra Banks

I love me some America's Next Top Model

but Tyra definitely does not look like a model.

My friend and I always watch it

and comment on how horrible Tyra's outfits are

Starved Out

I finally started watching Orange is the New Black.

I know, I know ...I'm way behind the times.

But I caught up on all my other shows

and I decided I should finally watch it.

I'm only on S1E2

but I've found thispiration in a show about prison.

When Piper Chapman is "frozen out" by the kitchen

it inspires me not to eat either.

If she can do it - I can do it.
My favorite part is when her fiancé, Jason Biggs,
says she's all "cheekbony."

Taylor Schilling is already a skinny actress anyway.

Holiday Exercise

I kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday with lots of exercise.

After a few too many drinks at the bar...

the boyfriend got a ride with his friends

and left me 3.5miles from home

so I walked&ran the whole way alone at 2am.

Though I was fuming from the neglect

I wasn't mad about the exercise

and I felt nice&thin in the morning.

I spent the rest of the weekend doing a lot of walking

while visiting family&friends

so I think I actually did really well!

...If I had a scale, I'd weigh myself.

Maybe after the new year.

Maid Legs

I'm the maid-of-honor in my best friend's wedding next year.

This is her cousin - the bridesmaid who will stand next to me.

Fuck me.

She's such a stick.

I'm going to look like a blob.

I must behave myself.

I will say, though, that my dress size is smaller than hers.

I measured an inch smaller in the waist

(probably because she's a straight-edged stick)

but my legs are obviously fat compared to hers

and these dresses are short, so the difference will show.

Time for some intense leg slimming&toning.

Mindy Weight

2004 Mindy vs. 2014 Mindy

So, I'm a huge fan of the Office and a big fan of the Mindy Project

(which is on tonight at 8:30c)

and I decided this week to start the Office at season 1 again

(for probably the 5th time)

and Mindy Kaling's look in the 1st season totally shocked me.

First of all, she was much darker

- not that that matters, but her skin is noticeably lighter now -

and thinner.

I find the weight-part very interesting because

(if you've ever watched the Mindy Project)

you know that she jokes about her weight&overeating&lackofexercise

and is portrayed as a very curvy, almost unhealthy doctor.

Now, I don't think she's actually a big girl at all.

(I mean, she's not thin by any means)

But I kind of feel like she's put on weight or trying to look bigger

just for the sake of the show&jokes.

Monday Look

I feel pretty today.

This is a recycled outfit from last Friday

...I wore it to a comedy show with the boyfriend.

I felt like I needed to show it off again.

My legs are thicker than I'd like

and the sweater is big&baggy

but I like the look all the same.

Biggest Picture

One of my best college girlfriends

has been using spinning&swimming and Weight Watchers

to lose the weight she gained after moving home from college.

She looks amazing!

And at lunch on Thursday afternoon

we were discussing how easy it is to gain without noticing.

We were talking about when we'd been at our "biggest"

and I can picture so clearly the exact day I think

I was the biggest I've ever been.

I had a day off from work and I did some shopping.

I wore a loose dress that I'd always worn with a belt,

but I let it fall sloppily around my chubby body.

I threw on accessories

- scarves&bracelets&layers -

to distract from how big my body looked.

My face was bloated&round

...even big sunglasses couldn't cover my sweaty cheeks.

I took pictures with some of the displays I liked.

(obviously not completely aware of how disgusting I looked)

Now I can look back on them

and remind myself never to look like that again.

Normal Barbie

The "Normal Barbie" is making her rounds on the ole web.

I'm not against her.

I do think Barbie gives an unrealistic representation

of the female body to our youth.

I'm very glad that she's not fat, though.

She's just thicker - like most "normal" waistlines.

I think the acne&stretchmark stickers are a little much

but I guess some girls would certainly relate...



Another Weightloss Story

A friend from college recently lost a significant amount of weight.

She was in a wedding and the pictures popped up on my newsfeed

and I thought, "that's doesn't even look like her!"

She looks great, though.

Super tiny.

She was always on the thicker&softer side.

Good for her.

I want someone to spot me on their newsfeed

and recognize how skinny I look.

Active Weightloss

A girl I went to high school with

recently lost a significant amount of weight.

I know she's been running marathons

so that definitely helps

but I can't help but wonder what else she's doing.

I can't imagine how she's able to hold herself up

for all those miles of running

when she's skin&bones

but if I could look like her, I'd figure it out.

She just got back from a tropical vacation

and all of her pictures are major thinspo for me.

VS Models

I follow Glamour Magazine on Facebook

and they're always posting thinspirational things.

Today they posted about the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows

(an obvious favorite on the TV lineup)

and I couldn't help noticing how "normal" the models look.

No, they're not chubby&soft

but they're not bony&thin like the models are now.

I like both versions

...mostly because I like VS always.



Mixify Movement

Obviously I agree with the Mixify cause

- balance what you eat&drink&do -

but I think its kind of a wild way of putting it.

The youth of America who slam fastfood every day

will watch the commercials and think:

as long as I go for a walk, I can eat another donut!

I guess it has the right intentions

and hopefully healthy parents will teach their kids properly

but I can see it easily going in the wrong direction.

Speaking of celebrity instagrams (see previous post)

I watched VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live this morning

and Nick Lachey interviewed Nicole Richie

(who I lovelovelove & *obvs* find very thinspirational)

and they played a game on identifying her instagram photos.

Of course - after the segment - I had to go follow her

(why I hadn't done this before is beyond me ???)

and her posts do not disappoint.

Her itty-bitty body looks adorable in all her clothes

and I love her style - even her wild hair colors.

and decided that I really need to catch up on her show.

and Ellie is super into posting workout photos

and she told me about her daughter's high school ED.

She's starting her senior year in college

and is dating a man her sisters don't approve of

and has apparently lost a significant amount of weight.

and I was recently fitted for 2 bridesmaid dresses

but hearing about my coworkers daughter

and her probable rekindling with her ED

motivated me to get my shit together again.

I've been watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch on Hulu+

and channeling my inner late 90's early 00's fashion sense.

Her aunt Zelda, played by Beth Broderick, is the shows thinspiration, though.

She's supposed to be the nerdy aunt

but she's always so sexy - example: the above photo.

Sabrina, on the other hand, played by Melissa Joan Hart,

definitely goes through her awkward development throughout the show.

I mean, in my early 20's, I'm still fluctuating.

Marathon Belly

It's my last week before my half marathon

so I figured I'd display a college fling's current body.

His belly is the floppy&bare one.
